## Key takeaways

- CoinGecko showed Bitcoin at $79,802.23 at 06:05 UTC on October 27.
- U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $110.3 million in net inflows on October 26, all through IBIT.
- The Fed’s current target is 3.75%–4%; its next decision is due October 28 at 2 p.m. Eastern.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $110.3 million after two sessions of outflows. IBIT accounted for all of the inflow, while Bitcoin remained below $80,000 ahead of the Fed meeting.

[Bitcoin](https://kriptometa.com/en/markets/bitcoin) was trading below $80,000 on the morning of October 27, as the Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting was set to begin. [CoinGecko’s display at 06:05 UTC](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bitcoin) showed $79,802.23 and a 24-hour trading range of $79,420.61–$80,679.57. The U.S. fund-flow figures cover the previous day’s completed session.

## IBIT accounted for all of the ETF inflow

[Farside Investors’ table](https://farside.co.uk/btc/) shows $110.3 million in total net inflows to U.S. [spot Bitcoin ETFs](https://kriptometa.com/en/glossary/spot-bitcoin-etf) on October 26. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) received that amount. The other 11 funds tracked had no net inflow or outflow. Investors’ trades in existing shares on an exchange are counted separately.

The inflow followed a combined [$773.5 million in outflows](https://kriptometa.com/en/bitcoin-below-80000-813-million-liquidations) over the previous two trading days: $635.6 million on October 22 and $137.9 million on October 23. Monday’s subscriptions replaced only part of those withdrawals. Farside also warns that its automatically updated table may change and may contain errors.

## Fed decision due October 28 at 2 p.m. Eastern

The FOMC will meet on October 27–28, according to the [Fed’s official calendar](https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/2026-october.htm?view=calendar). It will announce its decision at 2 p.m. Eastern on October 28, or 18:00 UTC and 21:00 in Türkiye. The press conference follows half an hour later, at 2:30 p.m. Eastern.

At its [last decision on September 16](https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pressreleases/monetary20260916a.htm), the committee raised the federal funds rate target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4%. All 12 members voted for the increase. The Fed said inflation remained elevated, job gains had kept pace with the workforce and unemployment had changed little.

> “The Committee will deliver price stability.”

FOMC statement, September 16, 2026.

The committee has not yet announced its October decision. The [official calendar](https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/fomccalendars.htm) schedules no regular Summary of Economic Projections for the October meeting. Members will publish their next regular forecasts at the December 8–9 meeting.

## Why can prices fall while ETFs take in money?

[ETF net flows](https://kriptometa.com/en/how-to-read-bitcoin-etf-flows) track the difference between the dollar values of share creations and redemptions. An ETF share’s exchange price and Bitcoin’s dollar price are measured separately. [BlackRock explains](https://www.ishares.com/us/investor-education/etf-education/etf-premiums-and-discounts) that investors generally trade existing shares with one another on an exchange, while large financial institutions called authorized participants create or redeem shares with the fund. Buying an existing share transfers money to its seller; it does not automatically create new fund shares.

Bitcoin trades around the clock, seven days a week. IBIT’s daily net asset value uses Bitcoin’s volume-weighted average price across multiple [crypto exchanges](https://kriptometa.com/en/best-crypto-exchanges) between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern. The fund’s Nasdaq closing price can differ from that average valuation. The ETF table does not cover all Bitcoin trades in other markets.

In his [October 26 market report](https://www.fool.com/coverage/stock-market-today/2026/10/26/crypto-market-today-oct-26-bitcoin-slips-below-usd80-000-as-fed-decision-looms/), Motley Fool writer RJ Fulton linked the weakness to [reduced risk exposure ahead of the Fed](https://kriptometa.com/en/fed-interest-rates-crypto) and profit-taking after third-quarter gains. He also reports daily share-price declines of 1.61% for IBIT and 1.66% for FBTC. Farside’s dollar-denominated flows measure subscriptions and withdrawals, rather than those percentage price changes.

## Which interest rate does the Fed set?

The FOMC’s 3.75%–4% is a target range. The rate banks charge one another for overnight funds is measured separately. The St. Louis Fed’s [December 2, 2021 educational video, starting at 00:32](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4IJV1uGWZ0&t=32), explains the federal funds rate; its 01:25 chapter covers the role of interest paid on banks’ reserve balances at the Fed.

**Different observation periods:** The Bitcoin price is an October 27 snapshot at 06:05 UTC, ETF flows cover the October 26 U.S. session, and the target rate was set on September 16. The FOMC’s decision and investors’ subsequent trades are still unknown.
