## Key takeaways

- The exchange described the October 17 action as a one-time measure limited to certain users.
- Users without an official notice can continue using their accounts under the platform’s terms.
- The current terms list Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan among prohibited countries; the announcement provides no separate country list.

Bitget says it will discontinue services for certain accounts while the platform continues operating. Affected users will receive individual notices setting out withdrawal arrangements and deadlines.

[Crypto exchange](https://kriptometa.com/en/best-crypto-exchanges) Bitget announced a one-time service termination affecting certain users in an [October 17 statement](https://x.com/bitget/status/2111325637755408799). The company said user funds remain safe. It did not disclose the number of affected accounts, the selection criteria or the reason for its decision.

Affected users will receive emails, in-app messages or push notifications. These notices will set out the next steps, relevant deadlines and withdrawal arrangements for each account. The public announcement gives no universal closure or final withdrawal date. Customer support will remain available for questions about withdrawals and pending orders throughout the process.

**Accounts without a notice:** Bitget says users who have not received an official notification can continue using their accounts as usual, subject to the platform’s terms and conditions.

## Which countries appear in the terms?

The English [Terms of Use](https://www.bitget.com/support/articles/360014944032-terms-of-use), last updated on October 16, list Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan among prohibited countries. The list also includes the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and other jurisdictions. The document allows Bitget to designate additional locations over time.

The October 17 announcement does not explicitly map the affected accounts to that list. It gives no country-by-country account totals and does not say whether the measure is limited to particular countries.

The new statement also warns against impersonation accounts and [phishing links](https://kriptometa.com/en/glossary/phishing). Bitget asks users to obtain current information only from its official website, app, Support Center and verified social channels.

## Japan already had a separate timetable

Bitget stopped accepting new registrations from residents of Japan in an [August 3 announcement](https://www.bitget.com/support/articles/12560603890270). Under that notice, existing accounts face gradual restrictions from November 1, with remaining positions to be forcibly closed from December 31. Those dates were published for Japanese residents and were not presented as common deadlines for all accounts covered by the October 17 statement.

Users who believe they were incorrectly classified as Japanese residents were asked to complete Level 2 [identity verification](https://kriptometa.com/en/glossary/kyc-aml), including proof of address, by November 1. Bitget said accounts without the required verification would automatically be classified as belonging to residents of Japan.
