What is Tether Gold (XAUT)?

Added:

Tether Gold (XAUT) is issued by TG Commodities, S.A. de C.V. Its product terms describe each token as an interest in one fine troy ounce within specified gold bars. The gold is vaulted in Switzerland. XAUT follows gold exposure, unlike dollar-linked USDT.

Example: holding 0.25 XAUT

Suppose you buy 0.25 XAUT. That represents a quarter of a fine troy ounce. At an illustrative $4,000 an ounce, the metal value is $1,000. If gold falls 10%, that value becomes $900 with other conditions unchanged. Gold backing does not fix the investment’s dollar value.

Buying a fraction on an exchange differs from buying directly from the issuer. The direct-purchase schedule specifies a 50-token minimum and a 0.25% fee. A small exchange balance does not automatically qualify for physical redemption. Customer and jurisdictional eligibility are separate requirements.

Use the XAUT price page for market movements. A price chart alone cannot explain custody or cash-exit rights.

For the practical differences in custody, fees and converting a holding into money, our PAXG and XAUT custody and exit analysis compares the documents with worked examples.
