What is The Sandbox?

The Sandbox is an ecosystem of game experiences and creator tools. On September 26, 2026, its current homepage highlights the AI-assisted creation product Studio. Studio is a product name, SAND is a token, and LAND refers to digital land assets in the metaverse ecosystem.

LAND is not physical real estate. On-chain ownership and access to an in-game service are separate questions. An older metaverse asset should not be assumed to work in every Studio game.

Example

Jordan starts the Farmadillo demo from the open gallery. Reaching the game does not mean Jordan bought SAND or owns LAND. Even if Jordan separately bought a LAND NFT, claiming that it unlocks space in that demo would require confirmation of the game’s supported asset rights. The scenario separates game access from acquiring a digital asset.
