What is Dune Analytics?
Dune Analytics is a data platform for querying blockchain records with SQL and presenting results in dashboards. Existing dashboards make research easier, but a chart’s meaning depends on its source table, filters and calculation. Dune is not an exchange for buying crypto or a wallet that holds your assets.
How a Dune query differs from a dashboard
A query specifies which records to select and how to calculate the result. A dashboard brings query results together as tables and charts. Two dashboards about the same network can show different figures when they select different periods or transaction types.
A block explorer helps you inspect a particular transaction. Dune can aggregate many records around a research question. Understanding the result still requires understanding the query and the data it covers.
Example: how many people do 120 addresses represent?
Suppose a Dune query finds 120 distinct addresses that interacted with an application over the past seven days. Labeling the chart 120 addresses reflects that measurement; labeling it 120 people requires additional evidence. One person may control several addresses, and automated systems may operate others. The query counted addresses, not verified human identities.
Our Dune review with annotated screenshots follows a real dashboard to its source table and explains the time labels.
